Michigan Commitment

We have an enduring commitment to our home state of Michigan

We support educational infrastructure, literacy, environmental protection, and other local priorities important to our family and the community. Tuition scholarships and infrastructure investments, part of our Educational Opportunity grantmaking, also directly benefit Michigan students, universities, and communities.

Examples of our commitment to Michigan:

01

Helping to close the K-12 literacy gap in Michigan through support for Beyond Basics, which provides intensive, one-on-one tutoring to help students achieve grade-level improvement in as little as six weeks

02

Protecting millions of threatened acres of forests and waters by investing in the Great Northwoods Initiative, through a partnership with the National Wildlife Federation

03

Providing access to STEM education programs and interactive exhibits, including a special exhibit on Archimedes, the ancient Greek mathematician, physicist, and inventor, through support for the Cranbrook Institute of Science

Supporting access to creative, high-impact writing and literacy programs for thousands of K–12 students each year in southeast Michigan, through 826 Michigan’s tutoring, workshops, and student publishing initiatives
